PS3 Game Review: Dark Sector
Since the Sony Playstation 3 became available in the year 2006, it has already sold more than 10 million units across the planet after less than two years. Sony Computer Entertainment has completely outdone itself by coming up with this seventh generation console, competing against the Xbox 360 from Microsoft, and the Wii from Nintendo.
On March 25, 2008, Dark Sector was released for both the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. For fans of action games and RPG, this is a perfect challenge for you. Dark Sector is reminiscent and comparable to Resident Evil and Metal Gear fame, and was developed by Digital Extremes. Dark Sector is granted by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) an M for mature. The Blu-Ray disc of the game retails for around $55 to $60 at video game shops for PS3.
The story of Dark Sector revolves on a world that has been massively destroyed by biological weapons. The unsuspecting human population falls victim to weapons out of control, and it is up to the hero of the game, Hayden Tenno to battle it out and solve the huge dilemma. Hayden Tenno is an agent from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), and is strangely afflicted with congenital analgia. The health condition prevents Hayden from feeling any pain, which is a perfect quality if you want a hero that is tenacious and can last for long hours of game play.
While on a mission from the government, Hayden suddenly becomes exposed to a biological mutagen, which affects his body by transforming his right arm completely. This gives the hero the ability to change his arm into a weapon called a glaive, which looks like a three-bladed boomerang. This serves as his primary weapon, which he wields and returns to him after every attack. The glaive is also used to grab elemental items like earth and fire which help solve environmental puzzles to help the character get through. The glaive, is actually like a Swiss Army Knife, as it can also unlock doors, crack open boxes or crates, aside from its obvious killing function.
The enemies in Dark Sector range from metal monsters, soldiers, and infected humans. Since one of the hottest features of the Playstation 3 console is the ability to communicate with other players through the internet, and this is an awesome asset for those who want to make the most of their Dark Sector experience. If you want to play in multiplayer mode, you can go in teams and battle it out. Or from a set of players, a random Hayden will be selected per round, who will have to go against all other players.
For players who want an action-packed experience, then Dark Sector is a good game to get. The controls are not difficult to master, and the puzzles and coded levels are really brain twisters. If you already know how to get through games like this, then Dark Sector will be a fun-filled experience for you.
